Most asians are not unfamiliar with John Woo and his action films. After his stay in Hollywood, making films like Hard Target, Broken Arrow and Mission Impossible II, his return to Asian cinema is marked by Red Cliff.
Am posting the opening credits here due to its wonderful use of chinese orchestra music to bring out the chinese epic war film genre that it belongs to. Note also Woo's choice to use visual effects instead of actual scenery (which we will often see grandiose views of mountains and lakes in the whole film)
